|Savage Chickens -- TV Commercials

Doug nailed this one. Long live Savage Chickens. We've started muting the TV during commercials; it gives us time to talk about what we've just seen. "Can you believe how hard Dwight was crying?!"

Even though I say, "Kill your TV," I do love My Name is Earl and The Office.

To consider how our obsession with commerce affects our concept of spirituality (and to support the Belmont Foundation), go here--Free Market Jesus (DVD by Donald Miller).

the world of advertising is changing though, it's less intrusive (in the case of TV), more things like product placement over interrupting TV shows. It's scary how much advertising we're exposed to wihtout even realising it!

I love the labels for advertising--gorilla marketing, viral marketing, etc.

I think your critical part is "without even realizing it!" With such subtle message, we have reality defined for us without the opportunity to evaluate it. Resist the machine! :)

What coffee shop defines me?

What office chair reflects my personality?

What car says "Travis"?

What cell phone makes me look cool?

So many important decisions in life.
