MOVIE: Why We Fight

Why do we fight wars? What do you fight for? Freedom? A way of life? Democracy? Oil? Greed?

Why We Fight looks at the development of the military-industrial complex and the four major players--military contractors, the Pentagon, Congress, and think tanks.

Travis was wise in recommending this one. Not everything is strikingly new, but it is organized well. It gives more historical information, more analysis, and is less one-sided than Fahrenheit 9/11, though I did appreciate that one as well.

Here's a more official description from Amazon.com: "Plot Synopsis: He may have been the ultimate icon of 1950s conformity and postwar complacency, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was an iconoclast, visionary, and the Cassandra of the New World Order. Upon departing his presidency, Eisenhower issued a stern, cogent warning about the burgeoning "military industrial complex," foretelling with ominous clarity the state of the world in 2004 with its incestuous entanglement of political, corporate, and Defense Department interests."
