Some of you appreciated Matthew Sleeth's sermon at Mar's Hill, and some of you will be receiving it for Christmas.
As an emergency room doctor, he was able to afford an affluent lifestyle, but as he began to see the rise of diseases from environmental contamination, he knew he had to change. His family moved into a house the size of his old garage. His electricity bill is now typically between $15 and $17 a month, and the family produces approximately 4 pounds of garbage a week (compared with a national average somewhere between 35-45 pounds).
Matthew is the author of Serve God - Save the Planet (Chelsea Green Publishing), and he's also the U.S. leader of A Rocha, "an international conservation organization working to care for God's world."
