Last weekend was pretty swell. Travis visited us and brought a sweet rockin' awesome bike. It will be even more rad when it has handlebars.
On Saturday night we had a Chusok party (Korean Thanksgiving). After we had gorged ourselves on too much great food, we watched Marathon.
Partiers were from Korea, England, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Several of us had taught in Korea (see picture of posed group below), so there was no shortage of Korean stories.
Then Travis, Charissa and I headed to the Shed on Sunday morning where we met Whitney and shared communion. That was seriously special. We prayed for God to have the last word on our personal stories that need resurrection (sermon available online for a few months, The Crux and the Hyperhypsosem). We hope to see her again next time we're at Mars Hill.
I can't wait for Rob's new book to come out--Jesus Wants to Save Christians. We've been hearing about it for about a year now.
Thanks for sharing your pictures, Travis.

there is a girl from Korea who just came to this area. she attends our church. while we were driving her home last sabbath, she said that it was almos Chusok. i said, "i know what that is! it's thanksgiving!" she was very surprised and happy that i knew what it was. it looks like you guys had a lot of fun! the food looks grand!
Good job with the international awareness! The shindig was great, but next time you should come on over. That would be grand.
While preparing this week's post at books for ordinary radicals, I came across this quote by Shane Claiborne in The Irresistible Revolution:
"The church is a place where we can stand up and say we are wretched, and everyone will nod and agree and remind us that we are also beautiful" (p. 245).
a regular united nations we were.
I think that this particular weekend was one of the happiest I've had in a long time.
